For the Annapurna Poon Hill trek, one does not have to worry about altitude sickness as the focal point is at 3,210 m/10530 ft. From the centerpiece, you can see spectacular sunrise/sunset views on the snow-covered mountain range–Annapurna ranges, Dhaulagiri ranges, Machhapuchhre Himal, Himchuli, Nilgiri, and Mardi Himal.
This short trek starts in Kathmandu, the capital city of Nepal. If you have time, then you can explore the highlights of the city. Next day, you have a flight to Pokhara and start your journey in the Annapurna foothill. However, if you are already in Pokhara, then you can join our group from there too.
The trail passes through glowing rhododendrons, rice terraces, big and small villages of the Annapurna region – Ghandruk, Ghorepani & Ulleri. Similarly, you will climb up and down the famous stone stairs of Ulleri Village. Ethnic Magars and Gurungs are the main inhabitants of this region. You will sleep in comfortable teahouses near villages along the route, which adds a unique experience to the trip.
Annapurna Poon Hill trek is an easy trek. Therefore, any age group of people, from children to old, can do the trek. However, travelers need to be physically fit and in excellent health to do the trek. Also, carrying a great stamina is extremely favorable, as you have to walk uphill and downhill.
The itinerary is doable in December. From the last couple of year’s experience, the December month has been good to trek in the mountains. Though the temperature will be low but surroundings will be clear, rewarding with beautiful views of mountains. Similarly, the sky will be clear.
